Ho Chi Minh City, not Saigon, this place has captured
my attention interestingly…
Since my first year in Sydney, I have made a statement:
“Every 15 minutes you will hear someone speaks Viet”. I don’t think it is any
kind of exaggeration even back then, and now, things are just going to prove it right.
There have been 3 Vietnamese restaurants opened in Macquarie
Centre over the past years and this number is definitely getting bigger, given that there’s a saying among the students in MQ: “You see Chinese in Accounting, you see Viet in Applied Finance”.
This new restaurant has been so far the best in the centre where
I can have the authentic taste of my country cuisine, surrounded by a bunch of
lanterns on the ceiling and images of the land and food on the wall reflectively. The menu
is short and the food isn’t as diverse as you expect to see in a normal Viet
restaurant, but all the necessary and typical dishes are there. And they look
nice and fine and more important, they taste great, or at least better than
the fusion restaurant which shares the same floor. The existence of this new place
means saying goodbye to negotiation for a bowl of ‘proper’ Pho whenever I am
heading to the City or Marrickville or Bankstown with friends (even though
there’s no real taste of Pho overseas, in my opinion).

yayyy!! another Pho addict ! :"> And yes, there is no such thing that i loved about sydney more than the food. Would love to be back and love to be spoiled w all the good taste.
